1 Billion Views

EXO-SC is back with their second mini album, 1 Billion Views (10억뷰)! This mv was totally different from their previous release, What a Life. Both were fun, but this one was a lot darker in terms of colour scheme. As a result, my design ended up being a lot darker, too.

It's always exciting seeing what Lay comes up with for his solo releases, and let me tell you, LIT really blew me away. It's not a style I would typically listen to, but every time the song drops into the first chorus it gives me chills. And don't even get me started on the production value of this mv - it's just insane!

Such a grand music video needed a grand nail design, and here it is!

Baekhyun is back with his second mini album, Delight, and I couldn't be more delighted! While the R&B vibes from UN Village are still a personal favourite, I loved Candy's fun and flirty concept and music video.

I wanted to channel that vibe in this design, so I hope you like it!

Our leader is here with his solo debut!

I'm so happy that more and more of the exos are getting their own solos; all of their albums have such different vibes, and it's been so interesting seeing what styles they go for as individual performers as opposed to their group stuff.

I enjoyed the kind of rock ballad vibe Junmyeon went for with the whole Self Portrait album, and this design is how interpreted the music video for the title track, Let's Love.

SuperM We Are the Future Tour

Getting to see SuperM live was kind of a surprise, but I'm so glad I was able to catch them at the Vancouver stop of the North American tour! I've been to both SHINee and EXO concerts before, but never NCT or WayV, so I was excited to see how the show would go. As always, I needed my nails to match the occasion.

What a Life

Not only did we see some awesome solo debuts from EXO in 2019, but we also saw the debut of EXO's second subunit, EXO-SC! The music video for their first single, What a Life, was fun and bright and I tried to capture that feeling in my design.

UN Village

There were a lot of quality albums released in 2019, but I have to say that one of my favourites (if not my number one album) of the year was Baekhyun's first solo, City Lights. The lead single, UN Village, which this design is inspired by, remains one of my favourite songs.

April, and a Flower (Beautiful Goodbye)

2019 was full of a lot of things for EXO and EXO-Ls. Minseok and Kyungsoo enlisted in the military after both releasing solo songs; Yixing, Jongdae, and Baekhyun all released solo albums; we got a new unit in the form of EXO-SC; and EXO released their 6th full album OBSESSION near the end of the year.
We also got to meet Kyoongtube, Chen's Channel, and Chanyeol's Studio NNG. All super cool stuff that I was more than happy to listen to, watch, and support.

As an EXO-L I was obviously excited about all of the various EXO content we got this year, but at the beginning of the year I was most excited to hear about Chen's solo album, April, and a Flower. I love all the exos, but Jongdae's voice has always been a favourite of mine so I was pretty pumped that he was releasing a solo. Obviously I needed to make a design inspired by the album and this is what I went with!

Love Shot

Just gonna say straight up that everything about EXO's Love Shot comeback killed me. The song, the styling, the music video, the choreo... I was perfectly happy to watch the music video over and over again while planning this design.

Tempo

I can't believe... that SM made us wait like a year and a half for EXO's comeback. Granted, it was a very good comeback and therefore worth the wait but still.
Regardless, the DMUMT was fire and I had a pretty easy time working the Tempo music video into a design (I think, it's been a few months so I could just be glossing over the design process in my memory). Love it when I can keep a consistent colour scheme for the entire design!

Blooming Day

I don't know about anyone else, but I was a little surprised about the general vibe of EXO-CBX's latest comeback. Compared to Hey Mama! and KA-CHING!, Blooming Day is a lot more chill but I was definitely still feeling the album. 
The music video for Blooming Day was really pretty and aesthetic, and I wanted to capture that minimalism in this design.

Universe

I may live in Canada, but I'm not a big fan of the cold weather. Regardless, I'm always excited for December because of EXO's Winter Album releases! This year they released their Fourth Winter Special Album with the title song Universe, and the cafe theme of the music video gave me some fun ideas for a nail design!
