April, and a Flower (Beautiful Goodbye)

Originally posted on April 8th, 2019.

2019 was full of a lot of things for EXO and EXO-Ls. Minseok and Kyungsoo enlisted in the military after both releasing solo songs; Yixing, Jongdae, and Baekhyun all released solo albums; we got a new unit in the form of EXO-SC; and EXO released their 6th full album OBSESSION near the end of the year.
We also got to meet Kyoongtube, Chen's Channel, and Chanyeol's Studio NNG. All super cool stuff that I was more than happy to listen to, watch, and support.

As an EXO-L I was obviously excited about all of the various EXO content we got this year, but at the beginning of the year I was most excited to hear about Chen's solo album, April, and a Flower. I love all the exos, but Jongdae's voice has always been a favourite of mine so I was pretty pumped that he was releasing a solo. Obviously I needed to make a design inspired by the album and this is what I went with!

As soon as I saw the teaser images on IG for April, and a Flower I knew I wanted to use the album cover as the inspiration for this design. The line art is just so pretty that I couldn't really imagine doing anything else for the design. I did wait until the music video for the title track, Beautiful Goodbye, came out just to make sure I wasn't missing anything from there that might be design-worthy, but since the filming location was pretty sparse (and very pretty, don't get me wrong!) I felt like the album cover was the best direction to go for my nail art.

I was really happy with how this turned out. It may seem kind of simple in its use of only two colours, but I tried my best to replicate the album cover as closely as possible and all those little lines were definitely a challenge to get onto my nail.

Also a little something that I just noticed that's pretty cool, this design is the 92nd entry in my Comeback Series, which is the same year that Jongdae was born! Such a fitting coincidence.

If you want to try this design out for yourself you can check out the tutorial below. If you do end up recreating this design, please tag me (@nyanails or #looknyanails on IG) so that I can see it!

Enjoy!
