Power

Hey guys!
Last week I shared a design inspired by the teasers for EXO's 4th Repackage Album The War: The Power of Music. This week's design is kind of similar, but is inspired by the music video for the album's title track, Power!

As is generally the case with this kind of design, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do for four of the five nails but had a bit of a harder time with the fifth. I wanted to keep the style of the pinky nail the same as the index and middle finger nails, so I spent a little while going through the music video to try to find a scene with the same background colour scheme. I finally decided on using a shot of a planet from one of the intro "universes," and I actually really liked how that nail came out! The blue/purple gradient worked well for the sky and I think the yellow/black outline really gave the nails that kind of comic book feel that the music video had.

The part of the design that I found the most challenging was - probably unsurprisingly - the thumb nail. I really need someone to contact SM for me and tell them to stop making exo's logos so ridiculously hard to paint. ðŸ™„😜 I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to be able to paint this logo because it's just so small and intricate, but after digging around in my nail supplies I found an even smaller paintbrush than I usually use (I'd trimmed it down to be like 5-10 bristles) which made things a little bit easier!

If you follow me on Instagram (@nyanails) then you may also know that I had a little bit of trouble with this design right before I was going to post it. As I was topcoating the nails, I hit the ring finger on my desk and totally ruined it. 😣 As annoying as it was to having to postpone posting to redo the nail, I'm glad that at least I messed up arguably the easiest nail to repaint. It turned out pretty similar the second time around though so all was good in the end!

The tutorial for this design shows you how to recreate all elements of this design. If you decide to recreate this design for yourself, please remember to credit me and tag your photos with #looknyanails so that I can see them! If you have decided to repost a clip from this tutorial on Instagram, I ask that you please credit me and please do not add your own watermarks onto the video!

Enjoy!
