1 Billion Views

Originally posted on July 25th, 2020.

EXO-SC is back with their second mini album, 1 Billion Views (10억뷰)! This mv was totally different from their previous release, What a Life. Both were fun, but this one was a lot darker in terms of colour scheme. As a result, my design ended up being a lot darker, too.

As I mentioned in my What a Life post, I wasn't initially the biggest fan of SC's first album, but I grew to love it, and I loved the design I made for it. With this album, I actually quite liked it right off the bat, but I ended up not liking my design quite as much.

There was a lot to concentrate on in the mv which, theoretically, should have given me a lot to work with for the design, but I just found myself unable to lock in on a solid vision for the design, which left it looking kind of like patchwork in my opinion.

I mentioned in my IG post that I ran into some design issues with this set, and while I don't remember what those were exactly two years on, I thiiiink I decided to switch the design up partway through.

What I ended up settling on was using the SC logos on my thumb and pinky, Sehun's Dior sweater on my index nail, Chanyeol's Comme Des Garcons jacket on my middle nail, and the thumbs up/heart from their dance challenge on my ring finger.

Individually, I think each element has it's merits, but somehow I feel like they just don't click when they're together, even though I made a valiant effort with matching the colour scheme.
I think the problem might be that I wasn't too happy with the middle nail, it throws things off for me.

But it is what it is, and this is the design that I settled with. Even though it's not one of my favourites, that doesn't reflect at all on the album or on Sehun and Chanyeol - just on my own feelings about my art haha.
