Zombie

“Happiness comes when two hearts are equally warm. But there’s a demon who doesn’t allow it. It makes the hot get hotter and the cold get colder. Can we survive this demon?” 😈🔥❄️

While I'm calling this design "Zombie" based on the title track, the above quote - and the inspiration for this design - is actually taken from the trailer film for DAY6's album The Book of Us: The Demon.

I can't believe that even after seeing DAY6 in concert twice this is the first comeback nail design I've done for them.
As you likely know, I most often use the lead single's music video as my inspiration for designs. I tried to do that again this time, but my idea to have make the background look like it was a blur behind a still, zombie-life figure did NOT pan out. The background I made was actually a kind of cool effect, but it wasn't at all why I had envisioned.

So, with that idea scrapped, I pivoted to this demon idea, the art style of which is much more my speed. I took direct inspiration from the trailer film, when it was illustrating the quote above.

I really like how it turned out, even those all those lines around the frozen heart were challenging to get right.
