NAFW2015 Day 7: Fall 2015 Runway Nail Art

I can't believe it's already the last day of Fashion Week! It's been such a whirlwind of scouring runways, painting, photographing, editing, writing and posting; it's made me really, really respect all of the amazing artists who regularly post new designs every single day.
For the last day of this challenge our prompt was to recreate Nail Art from the Fall 2015 Runway and I promised you yesterday that I would use this prompt to end things with a bang! Everything went according to plan and I think I've been able to follow through with that promise!
This design is inspired by the amazing designs created by CND for the Libertine Runway!

Considering the limited number of Nail Art designs that are actually designs and not just a solid colour, I knew a lot of people participating in Fashion Week would probably be doing the same designs. I wanted to do something special, and was almost 100% sure that no one else would attempt these cool, embellished nails.

Obviously I wasn't keen on the idea of putting a hole through my nail, especially for a one-day-design, so I found a way around it.

I had an entire bag of jump rings left over from a design a few months ago, so I broke out a pair of pliers and opened the rings up enough to fit on my nails. Thankfully the chain that I have fit on the rings, and after cutting the chains to reasonable lengths, I slipped the rings onto my nails and used the pliers to clamp them onto my nails! I had been planning on using nail glue to hold the rings in place, but it turned out that the rings were clamped on enough that they stayed put without any help!

I had so much fun with the chains; obviously they were kind of impractical and it was pretty difficult to type with them, but I actually went out with them on last night and my friends were all intrigued by them (and they didn't fall off which was a plus!).

I also had fun with the glitter on my thumb, index, and middle fingers. It was sooooo sparkly and pretty even though it (not surprisingly) got everywhere. The glitter is from Ciaté and is called Glitter All The Way. Here's a macro of my index finger so that we can all drool over the glittah together:

So sparkly!

I've had so, so much fun with this challenge and can't believe it's finished! I hope you've all enjoyed this week as much as I have!
I think I'm also going to do a roundup post for NAFW2015 tomorrow if I have time!

  1. This is just mega cool! At first I was like "Oh no Becca did you put a hole through your nails?!" which obviously would have been totally fine and your choice, but I'm still kind of relieved you found a way around it haha :) Really cool that you went out with these too! I would probably get caught on everything with that chain lol.
