Good Evening

After a year and eight months SHINee's back (back, back) for their 10th anniversary with their 6th full length album, The Story of Light (EP. 1, 2 & 3). Today's design is inspired by the music video for Good Evening, the promotional track from EP. 1.

As a shawol I've been really excited for SHINee's comeback, and that's only been amplified by Joanne, who's even more of a shawol that I am and has requested (read: demanded) that designs be made for each episode of SHINee's comeback.
Since I'm a little late in getting this posted, I can tell you that designs for EP. 2 and 3 are currently in the design stages so they should be coming out soon-ish as well.

For this first design, I had some fun figuring out how to balance the primary colour scheme used in the album design and the colour scheme used in the music video. The album promotions focused heavily on red, blue, and yellow, which I used for the thumb and pinky where I recreated the album cover and the spine of the album.

Since the mv dealt with a lot more natural colours like blues, teals, and greens, I decided to focus on that for the other three nails, but I outlined each of the three nails in a different primary colour so that the bright colour scheme from the other nails would carry across them as well.
I also didn't want too much contrast between the middle three nails since there was already going to be a contrast between them and the thumb/pinky, so I decided to work with one base colour for all three of them: pearl aqua. Since pearl aqua is both SHINee's official colour and used a lot in the mv, I thought that it would be a perfect way to keep those nails streamlined.

As you can see in the collage above, the index finger was inspired by all the peeled oranges that were seen in the mv, the drips on the middle finger were inspired by the green screen paint dripping on the members, and the ring finger was inspired by the view from the bottom of the well. The ring finger nail is definitely my favourite of all the nails in this design. It was the most intricate and I feel like it represents the whole mv the most effectively.

If you're interested in recreating this design or just want to see the process behind it, I filmed a tutorial for it which you can check out below! If you do recreate this design for yourself please remember to credit me and tag your pics with #looknyanails so that I can see them!

Enjoy!
