Dress to Kilt

I think this is the first design I'm posting in November that's actually on my own nails - how have I not posted in so long?! I'll definitely try to get a few designs done this weekend to make up for it.

All of my creativity recently has been going into schoolwork and projects so I decided to give myself a break from making an original design and instead decided to do a recreation of a design by @nailove2807 on Instagram whose designs I always love!

I switched up the colours for mine - she had used a light green - and added in the pattern with the stripes on the middle finger and it turned out looking way more Christmassy than I thought it would. I guess that makes this my first unofficial holiday manicure of the year!

I'm totally in love with this design though; it's so different from anything I would usually do!
The red that I used here is Essie's Dress to Kilt from their Fall 2014 Collection. When I saw the collection I had really wanted to get both this colour and Style Cartel and I ended up finding them in a shop down the street from my house - for $5 each! Essie usually retails for anywhere between $8-12 in Canada (or at least the part of Canada I live in) so this was $3 off the cheapest price I can usually get it for. Needless to say I was pretty pleased and will definitely be returning to this store to scope out their polish in the near future.

Doing this design made me think of all the other artists I admire and all the designs I want to recreate. As a result, I've decided that I'm going to dedicate November to doing all those recreations I've been thinking of doing but putting off!
I think it'll be fun to try other artists' styles for a month and I can't wait to get started on the next one!
