In the past I've tried to stick with a black/white/red theme for my Chinese New Year's designs, but last year I did something a little different after seeing some cute graphics for the Year of the Monkey. This year I decided to go back to the style I had used for CNY designs in the past!
I really like this style and I'm glad I decided to go back to it this year; I like the simplicity and sleekness of it. I also really like how the thumbs have turned out every year, I really like the contrast between the black, white, and red! (I also did make sure to check with my friends that the character on my thumb does indeed mean Chicken/Rooster and is the correct one to use in this situation :P)
As I mentioned, I've been doing this style of design for a few years and I thought it'd be fun to be able to see all of the designs beside each other to compare them:
This year's design with the rooster is a bit (read: a lot) simpler than the one with the the sheep/goat/ram but I think you can still see the improvement, and you can definitely see improvement between my 2017 and 2013 designs. It's always cool to see progress in similar designs over the years! 😊
