Masquerade (Rhinestone Mask Review)

Hey guys, I'm doing another product review for BPS today! I think there was probably some kind of shipping issue with this order since it was sent out early February and I didn't receive it until a few weeks ago. When I has originally ordered these 3D Rhinestone Mask Decorations I was thinking of doing some kind of belated Mardi Gras theme, but since it's a little late for that I reevaluated and realized that for a lot of people it's probably getting close to prom season! Therefore this prom/masquerade design was born!

To be honest I don't really like the nails I did for my own prom (two years later and I'm still unhappy with them), so this was a kind of do-over for me, haha!

The charms that I used come in a set of 5 and are also available in 3 other designs.

The charms are about 1cm (10mm) in length, 5mm in width, and 1mm tall.

Out of the 5 charms that I received, 2 of them seemed to have defects. On one mask the left eye space wasn’t hollow like it’s supposed to be (picture to follow so you can better understand what I’m talking about), and a second mask seemed to have a stray rhinestone in the left eye space:

I’m not sure if you would be able to fix these things by yourself, but I didn’t want to risk trying to and either breaking the studs or hurting myself.

I used two of the remaining flaw-free charms in my design and they seemed to be pretty easy to apply. I put a blob of topcoat in the middle of the mask and pressed it onto the nail and it seems to adhere pretty well. The charms are slightly curved so they fit to the nail; however, since I have pretty thin, curved nail beds, the charms were kind of raised at the edges and went a bit past my nail. Not that big a deal, but be warned that they are kind of large if you have thin nails!

As a result of their size I was kind of worried about these charms catching in things and falling off, so I ended up taking them off before going out so that I didn’t lose them.

Overall though I think these charms are pretty cute (though perhaps not the most versatile). If you’d like to try out these charms for yourself they can be found in the Nail Art Section of BPS and are sold for C$3.67 (US$3.05). The masks that I reviewed here are Pattern #4, but this product also comes in three other patterns (a silver and gold gecko, as well as a silver clover).
Don’t forget that BPS has free worldwide shipping and that with my promo code FHX31 you can get 10% off your order!

Thanks for reading!

xo,
Becca.
