Sing For You

Leave it to exo to release a new Christmas album right in the middle of exam month when I have 500 things to do. Not that I'm complaining about new music (I love the album), but the timing did mean that I had to be a little late with this Sing For You inspired design.

I feel like I should probably start this post off with my inspiration collage for my non-kpop followers since I'm relatively certain you guys are probably reading this and wondering what's up with the whole astronaut + whale thing (tbh, I'm still a little confused with it too but hey, that's kpop music videos for you):

So there is my justification for the whale and astronaut!sehun. It's not me, it's SM, lol.

Since I was busy with exams and pre-Christmas prep, I didn't have time to do my nails right after the mv was released so I had a few days to agonize over what would make the best nail design. This scene was honestly the only one that stood out to me as a nail-design contender since I think it's a scene that will very easily be associated with the mv.

Once I'd decided on the scene it was just a matter of figuring out how in the world I was going to paint a mini astronaut and whale on my nails. Like a lot of my more intricate designs, I did some sketches on paper before diving into trying it with nail polish, and honestly I'm not sure how things end up looking better on my nails than they do on paper (but I'll take it):

Macro Shot!
For the other three nails I concentrated on the two exo logos and the song title and tried to make the background look snowy like it did in the mv. I feel like my attempt at realistic looking snow flurries turned out looking more like bubbles, but what can you do.

All in all I think the design turned out super well and I'm really proud of it!
And because I love you guys I also sat down to film and edit a tutorial for this design! The tutorial includes instructions for the exo snowflake logo, the astronaut, and the whale. Enjoy!

In case you want to check out the song, here's a link to the mv, and here's a link to their stage on music bank (which also includes their cute performance of Unfair!!).

Hope everyone's December is going well so far!
(We're almost done 2015, can you believe it??)
