Hey guys! I have another kpop design for you today (sorry to my followers who don't listen to this kind of music; a lot of groups I like just happen to be having comebacks all around the same time which is why I've been inundating you with these designs!). My muse for this design is SHINee, and more specifically the music video for View, the promotional single off their 4th Album Odd.

If you're not into kpop, let me give you a 5 second briefing on SHINee before I start talking about this design. SHINee is a 5 member male idol group from South Korea who debuted in 2008; Odd is their 4th full length studio album, and their first Korean comeback as 5 since 2013.
I've done other designs inspired by them in the past - including Crazy (Guilty Pleasure), Breaking News, and Dream Girl - and just had to do one for this comeback as well!

This song and music video were really different for SHINee and I was glad to see them getting out of the dreaded SM box. There wasn't really anything in the video for me to grab onto and turn into a design though (unless I wanted to have beer bottles and Pepsi on my nails... which I didn't), so I took a bit more liberal approach to this design and focused on the warm, muted colours present and the overall ambiance of the music video.

(I couldn't decide which collage I liked better, whoops!)

I feel like the colours in the design make it perfect for summer, and for some reason the colour combination reminds me of ice cream haha!
Doing the gradient was still a bit messy though; I think I'm going to have to invest in some Bliss Kiss Simply Peel because my OPI Glitter Off Base Coat just isn't cutting it. It peels off of the skin around my nails half decently, but sticks in my cuticles which means I still have to use acetone around the edges. Not ideal.

View really is a great song and even if you're not into Korean music I would still recommend it because it's so upbeat and perfect for summer. Here's a link to the official music video and an English Subbed version in case you want to check it out!

    3. Haha, yep! I've always liked copying fonts (like for cards and stuff) so it was fun to copy the album font on my nails!
