Lion Heart

♫♪ Tell me whyyy, why does my heart keep shaking?
I'm right here, right next to you,
Snap out if it Lion Heart ♫♪

I'm adding to my Comeback series today with a design inspired by SNSD's new song and album Lion Heart! Well, kind of new. I may be a few weeks behind with this design but y'know. I did the design and that's all that matters! :P

The mv for lion heart was cool and had a retro feel to it, so I decided to some lace and roses for it. As you can probably see, these roses are quite different from the ones I usually paint and that's because this time I decided to try my hand at the one-stroke technique! It always looks so cool when other artists do it and I wanted to give it a try as well.

Having only a vague idea of how to go about this, I turned to youtube and watched this video on the technique. I think the top two flowers turned out ok, but the two at the tips of my nails could have used some work. For a first try though I think it went decently well. I may however need to invest in a smaller paintbrush if I want to try this technique out again.

Though the lace too me forever to plan (it's so hard figuring out how to paint lace omg), it was actually super easy to paint and I love how it came out. Basically you want to just paint a semi-circle for your half moon and then make hollow circles underneath it. Then just do a criss-cross pattern within the semi-circle and add dots under the circles! So simple and delicate looking!

These nails originally didn't have the "L" and "H" on the index and little finger, but I had a bit of a problem with my camera while taking the pictures for this design. All of my photos were coming out grainy and I couldn't figure our why! By the time I finally figured out the problem I'd already added the L and H on a whim and didn't want to have to take the photos sans-letters again. I did take one picture holding the polish bottle though, which way do you prefer? Letters or no letters?

If you haven't hear the song or seen the mv yet, here's a link to the official mv as well as an eng sub version!
