Thank You, Thank You Very Much

Eeep, I'm so late with this post, sorry guys!
I had a busy few days at work and didn't get around to writing up a full post on this design.

Anyways, as you may have already heard if you follow me on Instagram and/or Facebook, last week my friend and coworker Isabelle got married and I had the honour of doing her nails for the wedding!

As you can see, her nails were Elvis Presley themed!

She and her now-husband both love Elvis and thus decided to have an Elvis themed wedding, complete with the groom dressing up as Elvis for the ceremony!

Now I'm definitely not as big of an Elvis fan as Isabelle is so my knowledge on all things Elvis is a little limited. My first idea when I was enlisted for nail duty was to do something revolving around blue suede shoes (blue crushed velvet tipped nails maybe?), but I didn't have any of the right colour of crushed velvet so that idea was a no-go.

After Isabelle showed me the wedding invitations though, and her husband showed me a picture of his Elvis outfit, I came up with this design for the nails!

The silhouette of Elvis' face on the thumb is inspired by the invitations which I know look silver in the photo, but are actually gold in real life:

You don't even want to know how many time I had to paint this silhouette before I got the proportions down. I think did like 3 practice nails before finally drawing it out with pencil and paper to better understand the proportions. Then I think I painted it on another 2 practice nails before getting the face on the nails to look like the one on the invitation. Then I had to actually paint the final-product nails - basically I had to paint and draw Elvis' face 8 times and never want to do it again lol.

The other two red-rimmed nails are pretty basic and came from about 2 minutes of searching on Google images - one is an old mic which I would assume Elvis would have used (again, I don't have much background on Elvis and wasn't prepared to do in-depth research for this design), and the other is what google has informed me that Elvis' signature looked like.

The other two nails are inspired by Isabelle's husband's Elvis outfit, which looked much like this one that I found courtesy of Google Images:

Thankfully Isabelle loved the nails and from the pictures I've seen the wedding was lovely!

Congratulations Isabelle, I wish you nothing but happiness in the future!
