Whimsical

I'm back! Sorry for the lack of updates last week guys, school was hectic and I had multiple midterms to study for. The worst of it is (hopefully) over though and I should have time to do my nails again!
This week's design is quite simple but still rather pretty!

I've had this glitter polish for forever and I've never been able to think of a way to use it. I finally put my foot down this week and decided that it was time for me to incorporate it into a design.
The polish is called Whimsical by Revlon and is a light green polish with baby blue and pink medium and micro hex glitters in it. I originally tried using it just by itself but that was a massive mistake and looked awful since this polish is very thin. You could see right through to the nail even after three coats and it was just bad. After that mishap I figured it would be best to use this polish the same way you use neons: use a white base to bring out the colour. Excellent idea in theory, except the white base made the green look much more yellow than it does in the bottle. After removing that, my third attempt was a compromise between the two extremes: Waltz by Essie, a sheer white polish. Waltz provided enough of a base so that the colour stood out without being overwhelming.

I'm glad I finally found a base that worked, but I'm still a little disappointed with the formula of this polish. It's so thin; I had to use three coats over the white base and I was even considering adding a fourth. It also ended up drying with a ton of bubbles.

Enough about the formula though, let's get back to the design!

The reason I never use my glitter polishes is because I honestly have no idea what kind of design to do with them. For this I decided to go with some simple roses. After dabbing in realistic roses in the past few months I thought it would be fun to switch things up and go for a more cartoon looking rose this time around (not to mention it probably takes a third of the time to paint)!

Just something cute and quick to get me through the week (and through studying for a managerial accounting midterm, ick)!
Hope you're all having a good week!
