NAFW2015 Day 5: Fashion Blogger/Style Icon

It's day five of Fashion Week and it's time to pay tribute to our favourite Style Icons!
Now I'm going to be honest and say that I don't follow fashion enough to really look up to an individual person in terms of style and I don't base my personal fashion off of a blogger, celebrity, or anyone else. My answer about having a Style Icon is kind of the same as when we were in elementary school or high school and you would be asked who your role model was; I don't really have one. I can, however, appreciate people who have a unique sense of style and look fashionable in whatever they wear. That's why, for me, when it comes to style Icons it has to be SHINee's Key.

I could never in a million year's pull off even half of the things that Key wears, but his style really fits what I've seen of his personality.

The look I decided to recreate was one from Key's MAPS photoshoot in which he is wearing a coat from Kye's Spring/Summer 2015 Collection which debuted at Seoul Fashion Week.
I thought the coat was interesting and was excited to be able to bring another different technique (which I've rarely had the opportunity to use) into Fashion Week: Saran Wrap!
I started off with a coat of Ciaté's Big Yellow Taxi and then decided that the yellow shouldn't be that dark. To remedy that, I did the second coat using Ciaté's Loop the Loop which is lighter. I waited about 10 minutes for it to dry and then painted over it with orange and dabbed at it with saran wrap to get a marbled look. After another 10 minutes I did the same with the black, and then with the orange again.

One of the interesting things to me about this coat is that while the outside it this really bright, matte lava-like print, the inside of the jacket is a dark, shiny blue material. I wanted to highlight that in the design to make it a little bit more interesting. There's no real reason or justification behind me choosing to do ruffians and rectangles with the blue other than I thought it would be an interesting focal point.

Coming up tomorrow are outfits from the Fall 2015 RTW Runways! It should be really interesting so I definitely look forward to seeing everyone's creative designs.
