Love in Colour

Happy Pride Month to you all! 🏳️‍🌈

I'm still really behind on catching up with blog posts for all of my designs, but they're just going to have to be out of order so that I can share this set during Pride.

As I was brainstorming about what kind of new design I wanted to do for Pride Month this year, I really felt like there was no way I could top my Pride design from last year. With that in mind I decided I would revisit that design this year and add on to it (which I did end up doing - that post will be coming up soon!)

Even with that plan in place for Pride, I kept thinking about rainbow designs and just really wanted to make something bright and fun but still minimalist and chic. I wanted a kind of understated vibrance that anyone could rock.

When I think of rainbow nails I always end up circling back to a neon design I did back in 2016 that I'm still in love with to this day. Even though that design is 3 years old, it still works seamlessly with the current trend and my own current obsession with negative space designs. I didn't want to do just a straightforward recreation of that design though, so I wracked my brain for something to elevate it and thought of another one of my old favourite designs from 2016. This time it was a Valentine's Day set inspired by Anhy (@nailove2807). The general set up of these two designs was similar so combining the rainbow gradient and the hearts felt natural and the end result is a design that I love even more than the two that inspired it! ♥

While I hadn't been planning on making a tutorial for this design, when I posted it on Insta a few people asked for one right away, so I rearranged a few things so that I could fit a video in. I'm really glad I did too, because the video ended up popping up as a top post in multiple Pride Month tags and was able to reach a lot of people. I'm still so awed and flattered that this design has resonated with so many people all over the world! ♥
