Not Everyone's Cup of Tea

Today is the last day of November which means this is also the last design in my "Inspired By" series!
It's kind of bittersweet seeing this series come to an end because on one hand it's been so much fun recreating some of my favourite artists' designs but on the other I'll be doing original designs again! Yay!

For my last muse of the month I had to recreate a design by the amazing Ladycrappo! I'm always blown away by her her designs; they're so creative, detailed and classy. I had a hard time deciding between two of her designs but I finally settled on her bondage and floral one because my nails aren't quite long enough (and aren't the right shape) to do the other.

It was basically love-at-first-sight nail art version with this design. From the first time I saw it I knew I wanted to recreate it at some point because it's just the perfect combination of sexy and sweet!
I generally avoid doing floral designs because I get kind of self conscious about them; so many artists can make amazingly realistic looking roses and when I try them I always feel like they fall short. And also they pretty much just look like terrible blobs of colour up until the moment you add in the last colour and the leaves. Now that I've improved my art a bit more overall I think it's reflected in the roses; they actually look decent this time! I was super excited about it and ended up waiting a day or two before I added the rest of the design on top of the flowers.

I used striping tape to make the lines on the nails, but making the contraption for the middle finger was a little more interesting. I used the striping tape to make a long stripe of black nail polish on a plastic bag and waited for it to dry completely. Once it was dry, I cut it into three parts and wrapped the ends around the jump ring. Then I glued the ring onto the nail, trimmed the black polish to fit the nails and sealed it with a top coat, (all of which was described by Ladycrappo here).

I loved wearing this design! It's so pretty and ahhhh, I just can't even talk about how much I love it.
I'm also quite impressed with the base colour which is La Confidential by Ciaté. While I had to use three coats to get it to be as opaque as I wanted it, it's such a pretty yellow and was pretty much the answer to my nail polish prayers. I've been looking for a nice, light yellow for ages and then I happened to find this at Winners last week for C$5!!! Very exciting since Ciaté's usually like C$12 a bottle at Sephora and the Sephora near me only carries the mini bottles. Very happy to finally find a nice yellow and to find out that I can indeed get regualar sized Ciaté polishes without having to go out of town.

And that brings me to the end of this series! It was super fun and I'm kind of sad to see it end. Maybe from now on I'll dedicate November to be my recreation month.
I put together a little collage of my recreations so you can see them all together:
